Architecture for Humanity's Heidi Arnold is studying the various T-Shelters that are being put into use for the internally displaced population in Haiti. Where tents and tarps were distributed en masse following the devastating earthquake in January, the next step is to rebuild temporary housing for those whose homes were destroyed. However, as Hugh Brennan from the Haven Partnership explains, many of these homes will be more or less permanent for many of the displaced. Therefore, Haven and other NGOs are exploring ways to quickly build innovative, affordable, sustainable and durable housing that makes use of the materials at hand.
